altA tranquil and romantic townhouse

Birgitte would never have thought she would still be living there more than 35 years later. She has been refurbishing it completely the past few years together with her current partner Svenni, who is a keen hobby handyman. They have found it hard to leave this home, since there are so many memories connected to it by now. It’s easy to spot that Birgitte and Svenni is a couple that enjoys traveling and getting inspired by other cultures. The cool pastel colours are beautifully mixed together with buddha statues brought home from India, and rustique furniture from Mexico.

altTown house in Valbonne

The house is located in the middle of the town and is owned by a Danish couple who use it for relaxing in weekend and holidays. Partly because there are many wonderful golf clubs in the area, but also because they love going to local markets and buy things for the house and for cooking. The house is also equipped exclusively with things found at local flea markets.

altTeddy bear cabin

Christel lives in a cabin that is only 50sqm and she likes to collect things such as baskets, kitchen utilities and with only a small space she uses all space e.g. by hanging them from the ceiling. It might look like things have their place spontaneously but everything is thought through. There is a terrace on two sides of the house so you can always find a place with sun and no wind.

altSpring atmosphere in the log cabin

“I love the house for its charm and unpretentious atmosphere, that is rare in newly built cottages” Christina says. She has mainly used shades of grey for floors and walls and purple for the interior. Decorating ideas: If you have a new house buy second hand garden furniture and paint them in different colours to create atmosphere, make a day bed for the whole family, use stumps of tree as small tables.

altSummer cottage in dense rush

When the couple found the house it was not nearly done and they have finished it themselves. Bjorn is a handyman and has built a lot of the things in the house. The house is decorated with lots of small ideas for decoration such as branches as handles on cupboards; an old door has been installed to separate the two sections of the house, headboards of raw wood.
